CARE ADVICE
Dishwasher
All of our tableware (except for Beatles and those with gold and/or silver decoration) is dishwasher safe. To keep the porcelain shiny for as long as possible, you should make sure to add rinse aid. This also helps to avoid scratches on the plates.
Scratches
Scratches can be caused by certain metals in certain cutlery, e.g. grill knives. However, the most common are black streaks that are metal from cutlery and not scratches in the glaze itself. Citric acid with a little hot water usually helps to remove these.
Please check that the foot ring under the plate does not have any sharp pieces sticking out. This could scratch another plate. Sand it down with fine sandpaper. Also remember to place the plates on top of each other in the kitchen cabinet, do not push them into each other.
Coatings
Tea and coffee can cause deposits. Mix bicarbonate of soda, baking soda or dishwasher detergent with hot water and leave it for a couple of hours, then wash the dishes and rinse thoroughly. This usually removes the deposits.
Acids
After a meal, it is a good idea to rinse the porcelain as soon as possible. Some foods contain strong acids that can discolor the glaze. Steel wool, scouring pads or similar should not be used as these easily dull the glaze.
Oven
Stoneware can be used in all types of ovens. Bone china, on the other hand, is not oven-resistant .
All of our crockery is microwave safe. What you should keep in mind is that it should be at room temperature, i.e. a plate or bowl that has been stored in the refrigerator should not be put directly in a microwave.
